Hotel Château Gbelany

We spent four nights at this château, which is pretty isolated. The first day, we could enjoy the lovely library and swimming pool, but from day two they were reserved for a conference group. The group took over almost all the shared spaces, so hotel guests had nowhere to unwind except their rooms. With rain keeping us out of the garden too, we ended up sitting by a small window in our room, disappointed and wishing we hadn't spent our time there. The château itself has very good facilities, but the service and meals let us down. Breakfast was particularly poor, with low quality food and very little choice. Restaurant staff also seemed unhappy to be there. They made a lot of noise while cleaning and moving things around, which made the place uncomfortable and left us feeling like an inconvenience.

There isn't much around the hotel, but the building itself is beautiful, a large summer castle full of historic things like cars and guns. I'd totally come back.

We only stayed for one day, but managed to use the wellness area and bowling alley, and had supper and breakfast there. The rooms are spacious and cosy, with a really nice view. Even in February, the garden was lovely, and we almost had the swimming pool to ourselves. The food was great. There's not much choice on the restaurant menu, though you can find something, while breakfast had a wide, tasty selection. The staff were helpful and quite smiley. I'd recommend the hotel for any kind of stay.

A lovely stay close to Zilina. The room was spacious, nicely designed, and had all the comforts. Everyone on staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome, and the hotel had a relaxed but luxurious feel. One small tip: I drove past the parking area twice. A sign with a light would make it easier to spot.
