Hotel Karpatia

Hotel Karpatia in Humenné is a place we love returning to. The service is at a high standard, and the hotel offers good value. Breakfast had fresh pancakes, and we appreciated the thoughtful choice of local products, including wine. I believe there’s no better hotel in the area.

I was here recently on a business trip and found Hotel Karpatia a great choice. It’s clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Breakfast was delicious, especially the original fruit teas, a lovely way to start the day. The location is convenient, with Tesco and Kaufland close by. 66 BURGER is only a 100-meter walk away and is a great lunch or dinner option. I’d recommend staying here for work or a holiday.

I’d rate this hotel two stars. We had to switch rooms a couple of times: one had mold, another was very dirty with a tiny bathroom, and the last had holes in the sheets and duvet covers. The showers were awful. There’s no water guard, so a shower leaves a small lake in the bathroom and can soak half the room’s carpet. I understand staffing was minimal because we were there at Christmas, but the rooms were clearly below standard for quality and cleanliness. Most staff were helpful, apart from the receptionist. One positive was the spacious room. The interior layout seemed like a six-year-old had designed it, for example, there wasn’t an accessible power socket at the desk for a laptop.

The hotel itself was superb, clean, minimalistic, and well located. I might have given it four or even five stars if not for the woman at reception. She seemed very stressed, which I can understand, but when I asked for a room with a tub as stated in the description of the room I booked, she said that was just general information and I should add it under special requests next time. Should toilet paper and bedsheets, which were listed right alongside the tub, also go in special requests?
