Hotel POŠTÁR ***

Retro.

The hotel cancelled our reservation two weeks before arrival, even though we were several people travelling during the summer, when finding somewhere else at short notice is difficult. The management's approach was completely unprofessional. I don't recommend it, and after reading the reviews, I'm glad they cancelled in the end.

The bed was clean and comfortable, and the pool was a nice surprise. For the price, it's enough if you know what you're getting. It felt like a lovely trip back to socialism ☺️. I wouldn't choose it for a longer holiday, but it's fine for a night's sleep. The place is within easy walking distance of the water. Breakfast can't be paid for ahead of time: just go to the restaurant in the morning, order a classic, a park, an omelet, or something similar, and pay there. The food was okay too. What bothered us most was the great balcony with no chairs or table, and no ashtray either, so cigarette butts were scattered on the roof. Such a shame. The TV was more or less unusable.

The young staff were helpful, and there was a nice view of Zemplínska Šírava. But this really doesn't feel like a three star hotel. It's a typical post communist place, with dated interiors and, in my room at least, a very impractical shower cubicle. At 20€ per person per night, I thought it was expensive for what you get. Ideally, it would be 14€.
