Košice Hostel

Once I got past the trouble of finding the place, it was a lovely stay. The other travellers in my room were friendly and I made some friends. The lockers were too small for all my things, but I trusted my roommates enough to leave the other bags out. Staff were helpful and friendly, so I'd say it's a good place to stay.

The staff are really nice, and the rooms, toilets, and showers are very clean. But the walls are thin, and you hear the kitchen, reception, bathrooms, showers, and people coming and going since rooms sit beside all those areas. The curtains don't block light either, so light sleepers should expect an early wake-up. You get what you pay for.

The place was clean and looked fine, and check-in and service were okay. But our booking for a private room for six got mixed up, so we had to share with other people. Two shower stalls and two toilets for four large rooms is pretty cramped, and they seemed occupied most of the time.

The staff were polite, though not especially friendly, and the Wi-Fi was so unreliable I couldn't even use Google Maps. Noise carries badly through the walls and poor insulation. We could hear the street, people in the hall, and anyone showering or using the toilet, so they could hear us too. There's a small kitchen and it was okay, but limited. An oven was there, though we weren't allowed to use it, and drinks couldn't be kept in the fridge. During the hot weather, 27-33°C, that meant no cold drink, and the fridge was full of spoiled food anyway, so I didn't want to put mine beside it. The beds weren't comfortable, and the sheets and towel weren't clean. There were two showers in one shared room, so we had to either lock others out or share the room with a stranger. It's an okay hostel in that you get a bed, a shared shower, and a kitchen, but I don't think it's worth the price.
