Rokoko Boutique Hotel

I picked this place for its location near where I needed to go, and it’s a good deal if you’re on a budget. My family room was big, but the hotel is older and not very modern. I stayed on a Monday, when the restaurant and garden area were closed. If they’re open, they’re right below the windows, so I imagine it could be noisy until closing. The restaurant is also closed on Sundays, and there’s no list of places to order from, so I used Bolt. The receptionist wasn’t quick to get water for my dog, despite knowing I was bringing one, and accidentally kicked him without apologizing. I won’t come back.

Ohnisko next door is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to, so you don’t have to leave the building for a special meal. The hotel is comfortable and just far enough from the old town to avoid parking problems, yet still within walking distance of great restaurants. A few things could be better: room access is by key and feels dated, there’s no visible AC or way to adjust the room temperature, and the toilet paper is more like plastic sheets.

The main square is just a ten-minute walk away, and you can park in front of the hotel. The receptionists didn’t speak English, but we managed to communicate and they were helpful. Our room was affordable and huge, with a very wide, comfortable bed and good blackout blinds. I slept really well. The restaurant downstairs only opens at 4 pm, and breakfast has to be ordered the night before. I’d definitely stay again. Sorry about the photos, I took them at night and they’re not great.

The room was spacious but dark, with very weak lighting that made putting on makeup or lipstick almost impossible. The family room had no doors between the rooms, so it was really one open space and didn’t look like the pictures if you expected a two-room apartment. There was a heavy, specific smell of smoke in the rooms. The river right beside the hotel brought lots of mosquitoes, so opening the window at night or in the evening meant they could get in. There’s no AC. Breakfast was poor, and the reception staff were unprofessional. When we asked for the receptionist’s name, we were told they weren’t allowed to give it, though staff should have a badge displayed. The worst part was the checkout issue. We hadn’t noticed that checkout was at 10:00, and the receptionist didn’t tell us when we checked in. At 10:15, reception called to say we had to pay 30% of the room rate for late checkout. We were surprised and went down to clarify, then left the room right away. We thought checkout was at noon, as it is elsewhere. We tried to agree on a 50% reduction to the penalty since both sides had made a mistake, but they acted as if they knew nothing and could do nothing. Their attitude was outrageous. Definitely don’t choose this hotel, there are better and cheaper options nearby.
