Route E58 - Camp Košice

The facilities are modern and clean, with a nice café/bar on site as well as a hotel restaurant. Staff were very friendly, and so were the llamas! It's a small site with llamas and rabbits, a fabulous base for visiting Kosice old town, which is well worth a visit. The tram stop for the old town is a ten-minute walk away, and reception sells tram tickets.

The campsite feels welcoming and is professionally run, with a well-organized layout. Sanitary facilities are modern, clean, and well maintained. I liked the mini zoo, especially the alpacas, who seemed very well cared for. But seeing a tiny cage crowded with rabbits made me sad. It felt out of place in a setting that otherwise seemed so thoughtful. The city center is easy to reach from this fantastic location.

For one person and one car, it was €15,50 per night, a normal price. The toilets and showers were the cleanest I've seen at a camping, and the lady at reception was friendly and spoke English. You can arrive until 22:00 and leave whenever you like, since the gate opens automatically. There's a restaurant and café on site. Llamas in the café? The site is beside a highway, which is fine if you're in a car or camper, but not ideal in a tent. The showers only have a curtain, and it's too narrow to close properly. There's just one clothes hanger, so bring a waterproof shopping bag.

It's quiet overnight, and the lawn is reasonably level. The camper service area for black and grey disposal and water refills is easy to reach and use. I liked the location too, with a 700m walk to the nearest tram stop. Tram #9 goes to the northern end of the old city. This is the only camp in the area, and it's perfectly fine for one or two nights. The showers are the downside: there's no privacy, nowhere to hang a towel or clothes, and the curtains aren't wide enough to cover you.
