Best Western Hotel Dituria ****

The owner, Robert, was friendly and kind, and the staff were lovely too. The hotel was clean, and breakfast was amazing with lots of choices. You can book the spa and wellness area for free, and going between the sauna and pool was really relaxing. There’s also a small fitness room for exercise. I absolutely recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed the hotel’s history and charming style. The furniture and pictures throughout added to the atmosphere, the wellness facilities were good, and the restaurant had a nice range of food. One awkward part was that the waitress couldn’t tell us whether all four of us were covered for dinner by our half-board package. We only learned about the bill in the morning. Still, the food was worth it.

The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and getting to it was a maze: take the lift up, go down stairs twice, then climb a very steep flight. The staff were kind and offered to swap our triple room for two separate rooms, but this was a family vacation and we wanted to stay together. Disappointing for a four-star hotel.

The cleanliness may have been the worst we’ve encountered in Nitra, even if the hotel itself might not be the worst we’ve stayed in. Our room was tiny, the minibar empty, and the shower head very low. We immediately had to kill a huge spider on the bathroom floor. The mattresses were filthy, with stains and hair in the photos. From now on, I’ll check the mattresses before putting my things down.
