Hotel Alexander's

We were scammed. The owner cheats people, so read the reviews before booking. Nobody told us after we booked that the whole hotel was being renovated inside and out. The parking area was full of rubble and dirt, hard to manage with a big car, and dust from the work left the cars filthy. That was only the start. The ground floor had been completely torn up, with broken, loose tiles and holes in the floor. It felt dangerous for us and our dogs. After I complained, they put an old dirty carpet over part of it, which made things worse because the holes were hidden under it and you could step right into them. Our room was dirty too. The sheets looked as if somebody had peed on them and had scratches and holes. There were holes in the ceiling. The kitchen was barely equipped: the fridge was broken, the drawers were dirty, and there were no forks, spoons, knives, pots, bowls, coffee, tea, or cups. A disaster. The bathroom was dirty, we got only one roll of toilet paper for three nights, and the hair dryer was missing. I had to ask for it repeatedly. We wouldn’t have expected all these things if they hadn’t been listed in the hotel and room descriptions, and if it weren’t supposedly a “4 STAR HOTEL.” The whole place was dirty and dusty. We paid €350 for three nights. When I told an employee it was a disaster and asked for a refund, they offered another room that was just as dirty, maybe worse. I then spoke with the owner, and we agreed that €150 would be refunded in cash the next day, and that I wouldn’t contact Booking or post a review. They changed their mind, promised to transfer the money to my account, and gave me the relevant invoices. It’s now been more than three weeks with no refund and no contact from them. I called three days ago; they said they’d get back to me today, but now they won’t even answer the phone. I’m out of words. This is plainly cheating people.
