Penzión Skalná ruža - Kövirózsa panzió

I'd recommend it.

Our children loved the sandpit, playground and trampoline in the yard, and the peaceful setting worked really well for our family. Above the guesthouse there are outdoor activities and an educational trail with animal photos. The landlady was incredibly pleasant and helpful. We chose the location because we wanted to see Rožňava, Gombasecká cave, Domica cave and Syslia meadow behind Revúca. We had a great time and will come back to Gemer on our next visit.

The owner was so kind and helpful that we felt at home. She made dinners and breakfasts to suit our tastes, including the children’s, and the rooms were clean and well equipped. There’s a cozy shared room in front of the bedrooms for colder days, plus a terrace for warmer weather. Kids have a trampoline, swings and a slide nearby, and the nature trail starts right there. The leaflet and information booklet is thoughtfully put together and thorough. You can head out on a trip from the garden, and there are plenty of other places to explore too. We walked to Gombasecká cave and recommend it as an interesting outing. There are also several other caves fairly close by if you have a car. We came by train and walked the last kilometer along the main road. The next day we found a nicer, slightly longer route by the river and around the football field. Getting there on foot from the station isn't ideal. Plešivec is closest at 3.3km, though we managed the walk with children. With a car, access is easy.

The owner was very sweet, she would've even put up with the blue of the sky for us. She'd also collected loads of information for all of us, me and two foreigners, about places to eat, things to do, wellness and more in the area. The guesthouse is spacious, though it sits on a fairly busy road. Hot breakfast has to be ordered the night before, while cold food was available without limit. We could park in the yard or up above the guesthouse grounds.
