Hotel Ácko

The beds were awful, and the shower kept swinging from scalding to freezing with nothing comfortable between. Our room got unbearably hot in the morning because there was no air conditioning and the sun poured in. Even the coffee machine was broken, which was a small but annoying extra problem. The spa was the main reason we picked Hotel Áčko, but it was unavailable until 3 PM because it had been rented to the local school. I’d been looking forward to the pool and was told I couldn’t use it. Check-in was painfully slow, with no proper reception staff, a long wait to scan our passports, and waivers for the police to sign. The whole stay was a disaster, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable or enjoyable visit.

We didn’t stay overnight, just had lunch at the restaurant, but the meal was one of the best we had in Slovakia. Two adults and two kids had two soups, three main dishes, and four drinks for less than 20 euros. I can’t speak to the accommodation, but I highly recommend the restaurant!

The rooms are a decent size, though the bedroom doors are glass and the beds are quite hard. The food wasn’t very good, more like something from a school cafeteria. Staff were pleasant enough and spoke sufficient English. I’d call this a two or three star hotel. WiFi was awful, unsecured, unstable, and slow at best.

The rooms were lovely and clean, and breakfast was very good. The pool and sauna were also really good, and the staff were nice.
