There’s a farm here with horses, rabbits, birds, cats, hens, and other animals for children to explore, plus a large playground with several pieces of equipment and an outdoor place to relax. It’s a small hotel that suits families, couples, or larger groups. Our room was clean and spacious, and breakfast was good. I also saw dinner being served to a larger group. The host was amazing and very accommodating. The location is fantastic, right on the doorstep of the High Tatras. We’ll look at coming back next year.

We stayed two nights at Monty ranch as a group of 40. The place is lovely and peaceful, with clean, spacious rooms and apartments, and a tasty breakfast. The owner doesn’t speak English, but he was very kind and tried to make all our wishes happen. It’s near Strbske pleso in the High Tatra Mountains, and a good starting point for hikes.

Rain pushed our outdoor ride at the Monty Ranch to the next day, which worked out fine. It was a little hard to arrange by phone because the owner doesn’t speak English and knows only a little German, but we managed to book it. During the ride we got by with a mix of English, German, and hand gestures. The owner was quiet at first, mostly because of the language barrier, but turned out to be friendly and relaxed more as we went along. We had a beautiful ride through the mountains with lovely views of the high Tatra mountains. He took some photos of us on the horses and offered us a drink afterward.

The Monty Ranch is a quiet, clean, homely place with lovely people and nice horses. Some horses were rescued from circuses and have sad pasts, but the people at the Monty Ranch are doing their best for them. They offer both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, and it’s not far from Stary Smokovec or the Tatranska Lomnica ski region.
