Arietes Marmont Resort

The rooms have plenty of space, but sound carries through them. There was no coffee in the room, and housekeeping never came. I was told, “we clean the rooms after 15:00,” which wasn’t true. The wellness area was okay, though small and not well controlled. Some small improvements could make this a real four star resort. Right now, I’d say it’s closer to three stars.

We stayed at Arietes Marmont this summer. The food was varied, tasty and high quality, and the building is modern and beautiful. The location was great too, about a ten minute walk to the train stop for Strbske pleso. But the repeated service lapses, even when they seemed minor, really spoiled the stay. We left some belongings behind and repeatedly tried calling reception during business hours, with no answer. At breakfast, a waitress began cleaning a nearby table and put a bottle of cleaning liquid on our table while we were eating. The serving area is tiny, and since trays can only be refilled from the guest side, it gets badly crowded at busy times. The outdoor children’s play area is nice, but it’s too close to the garbage bins and unfortunately smells bad. It’s good that there’s an adults only area, but the doors to the saunas should say so clearly. Then a service lady wouldn’t have to be so unpleasant to small children who, along with their parents, apparently didn’t know they weren’t allowed to go outside. And when a bottle of still water costs 5.80 euro, guests shouldn’t have to wait 30 minutes for a waiter. What a pity. These small service failures can make or break a hotel, and we won’t be coming back.

We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and dinner, and the staff were very friendly. The apartment had an induction stove, microwave, cookware and refrigerator. There’s private parking, underground in our case, plus a beautiful spa with hot tubs and saunas. The apartment hotel is near a quiet little town and a large forest, with a view of the higher Tatra mountains. The only downside for me was the very soft pillows.

We spent two pleasant nights here. The buffet at both breakfast and dinner suited us, and the food quality was fine, though the buffet does make you eat too much. The bed was firm but comfortable, and the shower was good. Staff were friendly, and the little train is nearby. Only drawback was being a bit close to the road.
