Built around 1770, or so, this old house is a modest place to stay, but worthwhile. It's neither luxurious nor fancy, though anyone who likes history and a local ethnographic feel should give it a try. There are plenty of attractions nearby in Velka Fatra and western Nizke Tatry, and it makes a good base for trips with family or friends.

Turecká is peaceful, with lovely views, fresh air, and plenty of chances for walks and hikes. We had a fire outside and spent time in the gazebo. The cottage is older but cozy, well equipped, and has a special atmosphere. The owner was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

The price was good and the location is great. The cottage looks charming from outside, but inside it could use a woman's touch and eye. A few Slovak colored plates on the walls and getting rid of the cobwebs and accessories like camels would help. It's fine for a night's sleep after hiking or for a weekend. Showering is an experience, since you have to ask everyone not to turn on water elsewhere while you shower. One more issue for us: there's no pipe in the cottage.

At the village's end, the cottage is peaceful, with enough parking, and works okay as a base for day trips. The equipment is sparse and old, though, and the area around the cottage isn't well kept. The kitchen furniture and room carpets need replacing, and the bathrooms and sanitary facilities need renovation.
