Aplend Villa Studios

We had a great time, thank you. The hotel is conveniently located near the cable car and train stop. Our room was clean, the view was lovely, breakfast tasted good, and the staff were friendly.

We left the car in the free allocated parking space in front of the apartment for the whole stay, since the hotel's ski bus took us to the lifts and back. The wellness area is on the small side, but booking a time slot meant we had enough room to relax. Our weekend at Lake Resort Štrbské pleso lived up to our high expectations. The apartment was beautiful and clean, with a view of the Tatras. Breakfast at nearby Hotel Ovruč was great, with plenty to choose from. We needed gluten-free food, which was no problem at all, and they even had cookies and muffins. We'd happily come back.

The room was pleasant and had good equipment, but that was the main thing I liked. The hotel looks nice, yet service and staff behavior were at a very low level. Breakfast was below average, with very little to choose from. In the restaurant, everyone except one waitress was unpleasant and made us feel like a nuisance. We were there with two small children, which made their attitude especially disappointing.

The elevator was the biggest problem for us. Our family apartment was right beside its shaft, and you could hear it throughout the whole place, even more clearly than standing in the corridor next to the elevators. The room closest to it couldn't really be used. The children were meant to sleep there, but the noise woke them and frightened them, so we paid for a family room and all four of us squeezed into one larger bed. It made the stay very unpleasant. I'd only return if we could be guaranteed a room away from the elevator, and the hotel should invest in proper soundproofing. Such a shame, because I really liked the hotel's character. The staff were lovely and helpful, the wellness center had what we needed, and the forest-surrounded pool was beautiful. The water was too cold for small non-swimming children, but there was also a children's pool, jacuzzi, and saunas to warm up in. The food was great too, especially the dinners, which were an experience and worth coming for.
