Hotel Quercia Antica

The hotel is very clean, well maintained and stylish, though the style is quite antique and the facilities are seriously lacking. I wouldn't recommend breakfast.

The owner was very kind and polite, and even let us leave our luggage there at no extra cost. The hotel is very close to the historic center. Inside, the vintage furnishings feel like stepping back into the 1980s. They're well preserved and minimal, so it could be a great fit for someone nostalgic for that era. There are only a few electrical outlets, which perhaps mattered less 45 years ago, and the rooms need updating. The breakfast buffet is sparse. I'd give the place a vote of confidence because of the owner's kindness.

The location is a real plus: the city center is a five to ten minute walk away, and guarded parking a few meters away as the crow flies costs €8 a day. For New Year's Eve, the price seemed reasonable, though it didn't really match what was offered. The hotel feels like a classic 1980s place, with old furniture, no particular comforts and a smell that fits the picture. The rooms have the basics and can be fairly quiet, depending on the neighbors. But the lighting is poor, the pillows are very uncomfortable, the mattress is questionable, and the shower isn't suitable for anyone a little taller or bigger than average. Cleanliness could be better too. If you're allergic to dust, expect to sneeze a lot. Breakfast has sweet and savory packaged foods, but the serving window is short, from 8:00 to 9:30.

Claudio was incredibly kind to us, and the service throughout our stay felt warm and friendly. The historic center is very close, too. An unforgettable stay, and we'll be back.
