Radisson Hotel Dakar Diamniadio

I had a pleasant night, with a clean room and comfortable bed. The staff were friendly, and the supper buffet was good, if a little overpriced for what it was. Breakfast was OK, nothing special, but I left full. The security gave an illusion of protection. I should have set off the detector, but it didn't go off.

Being close to the airport is about the only thing this place has going for it. I agree with others, this is NOT a five star hotel, and I strongly suggest finding another one. I was overcharged about $200 and am still trying to get it corrected. On the fifth floor, there was black mold on the ceiling just outside our room, and their attempt to paint over it didn't work. The shower water was scalding and couldn't be adjusted cooler. The bathtub water was brown, so I couldn't bathe my son. After using the room's AppleTV, I found a fraudulent AppleTV charge on my account. Lots of little things didn't work properly either. Stay away!

The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable, but not especially quiet. The rest of the hotel is just OK and nowhere near five-star quality. There's a lot that needs improvement. Staff sometimes seemed inattentive, unfriendly, and disorganized, and I had to repeat my order two or three times on several occasions. The gym equipment is very limited, doesn't work properly, or is clearly broken. The bar and restaurant feel anonymous, with a poor food selection and little attention to local options. When I asked the woman in the restaurant for something à la carte, she stared at me and said, “why you don't like our buffet?” The buffet didn't look very inviting. The hotel seems to be aiming to serve flight crews, so I'd strongly recommend running at least three or four shuttle buses a day to the city center. Right now, it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

The staff were super friendly and relaxed, and the food at the bar and restaurant was delicious. I didn't try the buffet, though it looked amazing. The pool would be better if it were heated. If you're attending a nearby conference or event, this is the perfect place. Otherwise, choose somewhere else, since it's too far from the city.
