Hakuna Lodge

If you want to switch off from everyday life, this is a great lodge, right in the middle of nature. The facilities and activities are excellent: guided tours, a restaurant and bar, beach volleyball, SUP boards, kayaks, and an outdoor gym. For me, it's the best place in the Saloum delta. Just expect insects in your room when you're staying in nature. They provide mosquito nets and repellent too.

Hakuna Lodge is a place to relax and find some peace in the middle of nature. Getting there by boat and carriage, or by "speed" boat, was easier than I expected and added a bit of adventure. We ate in a shared dining area, where you get to sit with the other guests and meet nice people, as we did. The food was European with a regional touch, like pasta with fish. The host can arrange boat tours and other trips for an extra charge, and walking around the island is beautiful.

We had a really restful weekend away from daily life. The short ride by boat was fascinating, with views of the islands of Sin Saloum. At the pier, the workers welcomed us warmly and helped with our luggage. Our room was comfortable, with a place to sit outside, and the open-air shower was a real delight. The fresh fish and side dishes were absolutely delicious. Fishing is a big activity at Hakuna Lodge, and rods are available to use. Catching something didn't take much effort! I felt at one with nature there, and left feeling truly relaxed.

Hakuna Lodge is a peaceful, wonderful place full of birds, with welcoming and charming hosts. It's a special spot for anyone looking for an unusual location in the heart of the Sine de Saloum delta. You can't reach the Lodge by car. Choose a fast boat, a local boat, or a ride across the island by horse carriage. It's suitable for couples and families with small children.
