Breakfast is a simple French-style meal served in a lovely inner courtyard full of flowering plants. The staff are courteous and efficient, and the rooms are spotless with the basic things a traveler needs and enough comfort. Hotel Provençal feels like a peaceful oasis in busy Dakar. I’d recommend it.

The Wi-Fi is fast, and the staff are friendly. Breakfast is very limited, just croissants and tea brought by a staff member, and there’s no restaurant at the hotel. Still, its location near Freedom Square is convenient, with shops, markets, and places to eat within walking distance. Fine for a short stay.

They never contacted me before I arrived, so I could have been left with almost no options if I’d come later at night. When I got there, they said the person in the room booked for me had decided to stay, so it wasn’t available. They offered an apartment elsewhere, supposedly 10 minutes away, and said with a smile it would cost more. I turned it down. Booking showed “5 left” of a similar room, but they had nothing to say when I asked about that. Very unprofessional. Avoid this scam.

The owner is friendly and nice. The building and rooms feel too old and run-down, in a bad way rather than an antique way.
