A cute place with a little pool and a nice rooftop. The staff are genuinely kind and helpful, and it’s well located for visiting the island. The WiFi works, the breakfast is basic but good, and the shower has hot water.

I’ve rarely felt so at home and welcome as I did at Joal Lodge. Samuel, the hotel manager, is incredibly kind and ready to help with anything. If you want to visit Mar Lodge or the city of Fadiouth, ask for Buba, the wonderful guide who offers tours through the hotel. He’s local, knows the area very well, and is simply a good human being. Joal Lodge is only a few minutes’ walk from Fadiouth and right beside the ocean. I’m this enthusiastic about the place because I really mean it, and I recommend it without hesitation.

My card was charged fraudulently for this hotel three times in under 24 hours.

The food and service were great. Bring cash, though, since they don't have a card reader.

The bed bugs spoiled an otherwise lovely courtyard and decent food.
