Blue Africa

I came for a seaside stay, but ended up treating this as somewhere to sleep and leave. Mosquitoes were much worse here than elsewhere, probably because of the trees, and they were on my terrace even in the morning. My room door didn't close tightly, and there was a hole in the bathroom mosquito net, so they got inside too. The only safe spot was under the net. For a place that’s already overpriced for an overnight stop, even if it costs less than nearby hotels, that was disappointing.

The sea view is nice, but the rooms are below standard. Don't expect good rooms or service like a refrigerator, television, or hot water kettle.

We arrived in Saly on New Year's Eve after flying from the US to Dakar, then drove around in circles while our driver followed the Google Maps address and the map directions on AMOMA's site. Friends who live nearby finally helped us realize the location AMOMA listed was false. The hotel isn't in Saly near the Flamingo, and it isn't on the beach. When we called, we were told it was in a nearby city, which wasn't where we wanted to stay. We were left without a hotel, with two children, five people total, and 14 suitcases, while our driver was irritated on New Year's Eve. It was an awful experience. Never book with AMOMA, and check exactly where this hotel is before staying.
