The beach is only a three-minute walk away, and the neighborhood felt safe to walk around at night. The location is great, and the price was fair for what you get. I’d stay again if I could, probably because of Zeina. Breakfast is just bread, jam, and tea or coffee, with anything else costing extra. The chef’s Senegalese food was good. The managers were friendly and helpful, and we had fun playing Spoons with them when they had time. The rooms feel old fashioned and could use paint, though the beds were comfortable. Most of the doors were hard to open and close, and the noise could wake you if you’re asleep. A back door would make the walk to the beach even shorter, about one minute.

The staff are well trained, know what they’re doing, and speak a little English. The owner was approachable and helpful. We were happy with our air-conditioned room, which cost 40 Euros as a base rate including breakfast, though the AC itself is charged separately. That extra charge is emphasized on sites like Booking and Priceline. There’s also a tax of 1,000 CFA per person per night, which seems normal for Senegal. The building is a bit old but kept up well, and the room was cleaned daily. Breakfast was fine, with bread, jam, and a choice of Nescafe or espresso. They sell water, wine, and soft drinks, and there’s a restaurant. There’s a small parking area for motorcycles, while cars have to park on the street. It’s close to the ocean. They only take cash. We’d recommend staying here.

Ruth, the owner, went out of her way to help when my car needed repairs. We stayed at the Auberge Keur Diame again at the end of November 2018, and once more found her wonderfully friendly and hospitable. Her place feels like a peaceful, honest oasis.

From the terrace, there’s a lovely view of the ocean, and the beach is just a few steps away. The food was good, the place felt secure, and the rooms were very clean, decorated throughout with African designs. Guests are well looked after, and the service is really friendly.
