The Atlantic has eaten away at what used to be a wide, beautiful sandy beach. Now there are heaps of debris to put your towel on, among the remains of what was once a mass-tourism destination. The ground is strewn with rubbish, concrete blocks and iron bars. It's hard to picture this wasteland as the old Savana Saly hotel complex, where the hotel and beach once drew hundreds of tourists. Photos available. The whole site is close to completely neglected, much like the shoreline at Palm Beach by the Royam Hotel. The outdoor pool is now a watering spot for monitor lizards and a place where lots of parasites breed. Tourists should avoid exploring here. A few "apothecaries" still come around, along with the many animals you might encounter.

Such a shame. This must once have been a magnificent hotel, but now it's completely abandoned.
