A good place to stay in Suriname, close to shopping areas as well as the casinos and hot spots.

The staff are friendly and will try to sort out whatever problem comes up, usually with a smile. Be pleasant with them and they’ll be devoted to you, though I do think they should make more effort to speak French. The fourth-floor terrace is a favorite of mine: you can bring your evening meal up and chat quietly with friends. Just leave it clean afterward. There’s ample parking, and the place is close to the city center. The indoor pool gives this apartment hotel a lot of its charm. Prices have come down considerably since it opened, and one-night stays are now possible. The rooms are in good condition, but this isn’t quite a full-service hotel. Check that you have towels, bath mats, and soap. The air conditioners are old and very noisy, so mention it at check-in and ask to change rooms. That may encourage them to make repairs. I also find the curtains don’t keep out enough light. The breakfast buffet has gone downhill a lot since opening. There aren’t savory dishes anymore, for instance, though the waitress can make an omelet. Keep in mind that various taxes add about €13 per day to the advertised price. There’s also a €50 cash deposit, returned when you leave. Those charges aren’t a scam, so don’t complain to reception as if they were.

I was very satisfied with my stay. The receptionists were welcoming, the rooms were quite spacious and clean, and the pool was nice.

The hotel is right in central Paramaribo, close to Keizerstraat, which is an excellent location. Be sure to ask about the prices.
