The food was the one decent part of the stay. There was no electricity, so after dark it was nearly pitch black, with only a few solar lamps that went out after an hour or two. My bed was actually a wooden beach chair with a mattress on top. The frame covered only half the mattress, and I fell off in the middle of the night. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience.

You’re right on the beach in the middle of the rainforest, a proper equatorial experience. Getting there takes a four-wheel drive, or a local can take you on a two-wheel drive. There are three small houses to stay in. Netted windows would help let in fresh air during the warm, humid nights.

It really feels like paradise, out in the middle of nowhere with just you and nature. Jale Ecolodge has only three bungalows, all right on the beach with direct access to the sea and a view. The houses have the standard equipment, plus romantic candles, and breakfast is included. There are nice walks to other beaches nearby. Highly recommend it.

We arrived at the long, windy beach and a cleaner told us they were expecting someone else, even though they had accepted our booking. The owner was contacted but did nothing to help. It was raining, as it nearly always does in the south, so we headed back to the warmer north and had to find another place at short notice. I would NOT recommend this place.
