Rancho Costa del Sol

The place needs attention. There was broken wood piled near the stage, junk scattered around, and loose boards on the stage that someone could fall through and get seriously hurt. People were selling stuffed items from tents that blocked the ocean view, and it seemed like businesses are now allowed on the beach. There’s more trash and pollution as a result, and those businesses don’t clean up properly, so it ends up in the ocean and contaminates the environment. It feels like government authorities aren’t enforcing cleanliness or safety standards in this area or across the country. The rooms were okay overall, but there were pigeons between the ceiling and roof. Holes in the ceiling let us hear them walking above us, and it felt like droppings could fall on us while we slept. That was really uncomfortable. We stayed a couple of days and got sick with diarrhea. Service was very slow, and when the food finally came, it was cold. One morning, they served hot coffee in old yellow styrofoam cups, which isn’t safe or appropriate for hot drinks.

We nearly walked out after seeing the room, but they upgraded us, so we stayed. It did nothing to make the night better. We went somewhere else for dinner and left as early as we could the next morning. I’m not usually one to complain or write a bad review, but this place was horrible and spoiled our night. Don’t stay here. It feels like a scam, and the online photos look nothing like the hotel. The room and amenities were filthy and nothing like the pictures. Dirt and marks covered the walls, there were bugs on the floor and cobwebs everywhere, and the bathroom had hair and a clogged shower. The AC didn’t work, both beds were broken, and the pillows were terrible. Construction late at night kept us awake. Our patio door wouldn’t lock, which is a safety hazard that should be fixed right away. The beach was covered in garbage and vendors, making it hard to even see the water. My partner and I have never stayed anywhere worse.

Service was poor and our food took forever. We ordered Sprite with lunch, but they gave us whatever was left. At the entrance, we were told admission was $15 per person, then charged $20 each when it came time to pay. Don’t risk it or waste your money.

We paid $105 for the first room, which had three bedrooms and an ugly bathroom. There was no Wi-Fi, the TV didn’t work, and worst of all, the sewage smell was overpowering. We went back to reception and decided to upgrade, which cost another $40. This was the worst hotel we stayed at on la costa del sol. I definitely don’t recommend it.
