They give you a towel, and there’s free water and coffee in the morning, which was nice. The hostel itself is decent, and the staff were patient and kind when I asked lots of questions about places to go and how to get around. Getting there was the hard part: I took bus#42, then walked about 35 minutes from salvador el mundo twice. It was raining the last time, but thankfully the door was open when I got back. 😢🙏😅

I stayed here on both my first day in El Salvador and my last day out. It was the cheapest place I could find, and I don't regret choosing it. The bathrooms were nice and the room was clean. The staff weren't especially welcoming, but I had no problems.

The shared kitchen came in handy, and the common areas were nice. It felt safe to walk around Escalon, and the place was clean and tidy with friendly staff. Good value for the price, though there was quite a bit of traffic noise at night and the shower pressure could be stronger.

We ended up staying here three different times because of some circumstances, and Malcolm and his team managed to fit us in each time. The staff were always helpful. The rooms are basic but perfectly adequate for the price, and it’s a quiet place that could suit backpackers, couples, or families. Getting around from Colonia Escalon can take longer than you might expect, especially by public transport. Centro is not easy to reach, and getting back is even trickier, so allow extra time.

It’s in a safe part of San Salvador, and walking around at night felt fine. The location and service were nice, and it’s a good budget choice. There isn’t much to do around the area beyond malls and fast food, though, much like the rest of town.
