Hotel Tazumal House

Getting to town's main attractions means taking a taxi, since the hotel sits in a quiet residential part of San Salvador with hardly any shops or restaurants nearby. After a day out, though, the little pool is a nice spot to cool off. The room and bathroom were both quite small, and breakfast was basic, but the people serving it were friendly and welcoming. It was a pleasant stay, though next time I'd look for somewhere nearer the centre.

There are two buildings here, and both have pretty gardens that make for a relaxing place to spend time. One garden has a small pool, the other doesn't. The rooms are clean and come with good amenities.

The walk into downtown takes over an hour, and the ceilings are really low. Still, the staff were helpful and kind, the safe area and wifi were great, and breakfast was excellent. Best bed I've ever slept in, and those pillows were wonderful!

When I went to leave for the airport around 1 a.m., as I'd told them the evening before, nobody was around to take my keys or unlock the front door. The room itself was disappointing too: the bathroom wasn't attached as the photos showed, the bed only had a sheet, the paint was peeling, and everything looked outdated. The shower had no hot water. I'd maybe expect these problems for $20, but not at $50 a night. I checked in yesterday evening, and I'd avoid this hotel at all costs.
