Lorenzo Hotel

For $45 a night, this felt like a total ripoff. The internet kept dropping every 2-3 minutes for 30-60 seconds, so calls were impossible and I had to cancel all my online work calls. Management rudely refused to look for a fix or let me use the employee Wi-Fi. Many rooms, including mine, have no exterior windows. Mine felt about 35 degrees Celsius when I arrived and everything was damp. The shower had no shower head, just a hard stream of ice-cold water from the wall, with no temperature control. The bathroom was tiny, and although there was a desk, there was no chair. The mattress was extremely hard, and I could hear the plastic under the thin sheet. There wasn’t a complimentary water bottle, and I was told I’d have to pay for one. The only English-speaking employee, who I assume was the manager, was a young woman. She was rude and unhelpful and didn’t try to address any of this, especially the internet. The hotel seemed new, so I gave it a chance and deeply regret it. There are much better places around. Edit: The hotel now says they had to call security. Staff came into my room while I was inside, so I yelled for them not to enter. What else was I meant to do, welcome them with open arms? They’re turning that 10-second incident into a new story because they have no answer to my other points. Another problem is that they enter rooms without permission even when they know someone is inside.

It’s easy to get around on foot from here, and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. The place was clean, had no bad smells, and yes, it has AC.

The staff were great. I was only here one night during a bus layover. Clean enough, though definitely not fancy.

Really nice place, about a 10-minute walk to the main center, cathedral, and main square.
