El Tejado

After a long hike, the pool was wonderfully refreshing. The hotel itself is incredibly beautiful, with clean rooms and a delicious restaurant. The owners were also very accommodating and kindly helped us arrange transport. I’d definitely recommend it.

Mariela gave us great service. When we arrived by car, there was private parking, and the trees, flowers, and pool looked absolutely amazing.

My partner and I wandered in by chance and ended up spending about an hour enjoying this wonderful hotel and restaurant. The place is large, with hotel rooms, a restaurant and bar, a pool, a small garden, sculptures and artwork, plus an open-air terrace with lovely views. Everything looked clean and well cared for, and the staff were very welcoming. It was a quiet Saturday around 5 p.m., and we were seated right away at a table on the edge overlooking nature. We weren’t hungry at first, so we ordered fresh watermelon juice. It took almost 15 minutes to arrive, but we were happy relaxing with the jungle and mountain views and soft tropical music. The juice was delicious and incredibly fresh, among the best I’ve had, with only one in Costa Rica possibly better. We walked around afterward and found parrots sitting freely in a tree. They let us get close, and I even talked with them a little. They speak Spanish, but can repeat a few English words too. The simple observatory terrace upstairs was nicely decorated and made a great photo spot. Before leaving, we ordered Yucca Fries with Pork pieces (Yuca frita con chicharrón) to share, along with another round of juice. The menu isn’t huge, but has a decent range. We waited around 20 minutes. The yucca fries were tasty, though the pork was a little dry and could have been softer and juicier. The waiter brought pico de gallo on the side; mixing it with the pork made the dish moister and improved it. The watermelon juice was excellent again. Prices seemed reasonable: the generous plate was $8 and a fresh juice was $4. They take major credit cards and Apple Pay. I’d happily stay at the hotel if I return to El Salvador and Suchitoto for a night. I really enjoyed the visit, and recommend stopping by to relax with a fresh watermelon juice, take in the views, and maybe chat with a parrot.

Gabriela is a sweetheart, and every employee was kind. I felt listened to about the wedding arrangements, welcomed, and appreciated. I celebrated my wedding here, with all my family staying at the hotel, and they made it a really lovely occasion. There’s a room for the ceremony, and we held the reception in the restaurant area. We loved it, and it’s a perfect wedding destination. I’ll definitely come back whenever I visit El Salvador.
