La Vista Resort

We really enjoyed the water views from our patio. The beach is mostly coral and rock, but there are spots to get into open water, along with lots of sandy, shallow wading areas inside the reef that are about a foot deep for little kids. The room was clean and nice, though a bit dated. It had a microwave, oven, fridge, full-size fridge, and flat-screen TVs with plenty of channels. Both pools were very clean, one by the restaurant and another near the beach. We ate at the on-site restaurant and liked it; prices weren't too bad, with omelettes at $12 USD, beer at $5, and two for $6 during afternoon happy hour. Just outside the resort, a lovely woman was there each day selling drinks for a dollar and really good chicken and Johnny cakes for very little. There's also a grocery store about three blocks away. We'd definitely come back to La Vista.

Safety is non-negotiable for me, so I wouldn't stay at La Vista Resort again. The location is great, but there were also cleanliness and maintenance concerns, including an unpleasant smell in the room. I was there for four nights with three friends. On our first full day, the glass shower door suddenly shattered while I was in the shower. I was covered in dozens of cuts and bleeding heavily, and emergency services were called. It was deeply traumatic, and I feel lucky it wasn't worse. The manager on duty told us this had happened before. What followed was just as upsetting. Management showed little urgency or concern, and there was not much reassurance or meaningful follow-up for the rest of our stay. Their response didn't seem to match how serious the incident was. I'd urge others to think carefully about nearby options.

It's a peaceful resort, but still in a handy spot for exploring St. Maarten or simply staying put by the beach. I found it easy to slow down and enjoy my time there. My room was clean, comfortable, and well looked after, and I felt relaxed in it. The staff were friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome without making a fuss. I had an amazing stay at La Vista, with lovely clear water and stunning views from its private beach. I'd happily come back and recommend it to anyone visiting St. Maarten. :-)

The studio was huge and came with everything I needed, and there was free parking. The area felt safe, with lots nearby. Staff were friendly, and the on-site restaurant had excellent food and drinks. There are two wonderful pools, and they provide towels for both the pool and beach. Can't wait to return.
