Beit Al Wali

The old Damascus palace has been restored with a light touch that leaves you amazed. The property is spotless, and the care given to cleanliness is striking. It feels like a time capsule from the Roman Empire, paired with twenty-first-century care and service. The staff, from the doorman and receptionists to room service, the waiters and waitresses, and the transportation team, all seem to have service down to an art. More than a hundred lovely faces and smiles, all focused on making guests feel at home, almost like angels. Their grace comes with that famous Syrian hospitality. The cost feels like almost nothing next to the experience and memories. Don’t hesitate to come, but be ready to never want to leave. Come before the place is discovered. God bless the hotel and everyone working here. I can’t wait to return. Watch out, Dubai, Damascus is coming! I could write several pages about this place, but I’ll stop here. Someone had a vision for this old palace and brought it to life for us to enjoy.

My first trip to Syria left me feeling completely at home in this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were quick to help. Waad from Guest Relations deserves special thanks. She took care of every detail for us, arranged a tricky trip at a modest price, and even persuaded the taxi driver to wait so we could get back safely. The hotel sits on a very quiet street just off the Old Town’s bustle. Waad was worried about me, but I felt entirely safe in Damascus. I encourage tourists to come see its historic, beautiful sites and meet the welcoming people. This is a lovely hotel to stay in, and I recommend it without hesitation. I’ll stay again when I return.
