Turks Head Inne

The location is really good, just 50 feet from the beach, and it's quiet at night. We stayed in the economy room, which is small and basic but clean. It's cheap and does the job for a short visit, and the service is really good. Communication about arrival time and breakfast was easy. I wouldn't suggest the economy room for a long stay, but it's perfect for one or two nights.

The room was comfortable and clean when we arrived, and the hotel is in a great spot by the beach. Still, the stay was only okay because service overall let it down. The balcony floor and furniture were too dirty to sit on, and the dining room badly needs updating. The restaurant and bar never opened during my stay. On Sunday night, staff and friends held a karaoke party, which didn't feel professional in a hotel. The lack of amenities and upkeep made the experience less enjoyable than I expected.

There was nobody else in the restaurant when we went for dinner, which maybe should have been a clue. We shared conch chowder that was nice, a pepperoni "pizza" that was really more like a very cheesy flatbread, and homemade key lime pie. Its delicate custard filling was somewhat overwhelmed by the digestive biscuit crust, so we enjoyed them more separately. The food was good, but at $55 it felt quite overpriced, even by Grand Turk standards.

We enjoyed the meals so much that we came back a second time. The curried snapper was to die for, the shrimp kebabs were delicious, and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Food, drinks and service were all wonderful. The staff were lovely, and on our first night they squeezed in all eight of us without a reservation. It was open on New Year's Eve and the Monday after New Year’s, when not many other places were. Make sure to have a meal here on your Grand Turk trip!
