The Tides

We left with a full refund, but I’d never come back. We booked because of the “beachfront location” and the pictures. The hotel isn’t beachfront. Their website photo shows a different beachfront hotel, with this one way over on the far right. You have to leave the “resort” to reach the beach, so access isn’t easy. The room itself was nice and clean, but the pool area was gross. The photos looked much better than the actual place, with some serious editing involved. I raised the issue with the reservations manager. She admitted the advertising was false and said she’d “immediately get the picture taken down,” then a few minutes later insisted the website only said “steps away from the beach” and kept trying to gaslight me. She refunded us, thankfully, after refusing to move us from a one-bedroom to an available two-bedroom with at least a beach view. There were three of us, but she also said she couldn’t move us to the “penthouse,” a two-bedroom on the fourth floor. She said she’d rather lose money than move us, then called me “unruly.” When I said I’d post a review warning people that the photos and “beachfront location” description were completely inaccurate, another staff member tried to intimidate me, saying he’d post a recording of our conversation if I left a bad review. I told him, “great!” Video evidence is awesome. Beware.

Brenda, the manager, went out of her way to help us even though she didn’t have to. My fiancé and I were extremely impressed by how clean everything was and by the hospitality. It was the best service we’ve had at any of the many hotels we’ve visited. Thanks to her, we enjoyed our vacation and decided to stay an extra night. Thank you, Brenda.

We were trapped for about 40 minutes, though it felt like forever. The emergency button didn’t work, so there was no way to alert anyone or get out. We could only bang on the door, scream for help, and keep ringing the elevator bell. A couple finally heard us and tried to open the door, but couldn’t. They managed to find a staff member and let them know we were stuck and the emergency button wasn’t functioning. This happened around 7:00 am on January 31, 2026, while my husband and I were staying here for my birthday. We were going up to the fourth floor when the elevator stopped between the third and fourth floors. While we were inside, it jerked and dropped about 12-20 inches before stopping completely. My husband had a panic attack, and I was crying with muscle pain, scared for my life. We told the manager about the back pain from the drop and the panic attacks, and said we weren’t doing well. He didn’t offer any medical help. That made an already frightening experience much worse. I don’t know how we’ll get past the trauma or the fear of riding in an elevator again.

A great hidden gem with a more private feel, without all the cost and frills. They’re very accommodating, and the beach is super close, with chairs and umbrellas available.
