Hotel M'Rode

Expect broken locks, faulty shower rails, poor cleaning, and rooms that aren’t maintained well. Your reservation may not count for much either. Even if you booked ahead, they might give the room to whoever bids more. The staff aren’t professional and don’t deal with complaints. It’s always games, games. Avoid this hotel.

Small and chic, and the inside is much more impressive than the outside suggests. I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and clean the hotel was. I only stopped by briefly to visit a friend, so I can’t really comment on the service.

The room at Hotel M’Rode was huge, with everything I needed: air conditioning, a great shower, a comfortable bed, and very fast WiFi. The front desk guy was welcoming and helpful as soon as I arrived, and spoke English, which I wasn’t used to in West Africa. Whenever I came back or headed out, I was greeted with a smile. Even the security guards helped me find moto taxis. I didn’t try the restaurant food, but stopped in for drinks. It had a lively feel and is open 24 hours. I’ll be back at Hotel M’Rode next time I’m in Lome.

The food is absolutely lovely, and the staff are friendly and speak both French and English. It’s within walking distance of the Atlantic Ocean. If you’re visiting Lomé, Togo, consider checking it out.
