House of Passion Amphawa

The pool and river setting outdoors is charming, though the grounds need maintenance and don't look as fresh as the photos suggest. The hotel seems to have seen better days, and our Family Suite had a strong musty smell, as if it wasn't ventilated much. The shower was great, but we missed having a small table in the room. The beds weren't comfortable, and yellow stains on the pillows beneath the pillowcases felt unhygienic. Staff were mediocre, neither especially service-minded nor unfriendly. Breakfast was average. With enough guests there was a buffet with decent variety and some tasty choices; when fewer people were staying, they served a set breakfast instead. That was fine, but seemed like cost cutting given the high room rate. If the price had been lower, our expectations would have been different and we'd probably have rated it better. For what it costs, too many things fell short, so the value wasn't good.

We felt well cared for during our peaceful, relaxing stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were kind and helpful, especially with our children. They even managed to accommodate us gracefully when we arrived early, which we appreciated. We enjoyed the pool and seeing local wildlife each day, including squirrels, birds, and a water monitor. We'd happily return and recommend the hotel to families visiting the area.

The food at the waterside restaurant was nice, and the staff were pleasant and very helpful. Our room was small but clean and well equipped. Breakfast has a reasonable selection and needs to be ordered ahead. There's also a small pool, with lots of items on display in the shared areas. It took some effort to find the place, but it was worth the visit and the money.

A quiet resort in the traditional wooden house style, and good value for the price and quality of the stay. A nice weekend escape from noisy BKK. I liked the breakfast too.
