We stayed at Mhontong Homestay over New Year 2026 and found it calm and pleasant. The owner was kind, soft-spoken, and helpful, and prepared breakfast early to meet our special request. It was good, especially the biriyani. The morning sun made for a beautiful view, although the tide was rising then. I think high tide was around 11 a.m. The place is near the shore in what I think is a fishermen's area, with lots of trees and fishing equipment around. We arrived at night, so we couldn't really see the view then. It was high tide, and we could see the sea, but the water wasn't very clear and there was some waste around. The mud is black.

It felt like home 🥰. The host was easy to communicate with, and check-in and check-out were convenient. The location made it simple to get around and find good restaurants. My room was clean and comfortable, had everything I needed, and the bed was comfortable too. I was very satisfied with my stay and would highly recommend it.

If you want somewhere away from the tourist bustle at an economical price, this is a good option in my opinion. It's an authentic experience, with no frills but more than you'd expect: air conditioning, good WiFi, and a house on stilts over the ocean. The host and her son were kind and helpful, and they cook breakfast. There's plenty of bird life too. I really liked this place.

Some rooms have no windows, so be aware. The surroundings smell bad, and this definitely isn't a three-star hotel. The room might be worth 400 to 500 THB, but certainly not 950.

We stayed during jellyfish season and got to experience them being in and process the jelly fish. I enjoyed my stay, and the host was super helpful.
