Anawin Bungalows

Our stay was extremely disappointing, even though the property grounds are beautiful and may explain the many positive reviews. We were placed in the last building, where wastewater from a neighboring hotel's laundry was constantly discharged just below us. The noise and awful smell made the area around the building unpleasant, and I couldn't sit outside and enjoy the views as I expected to. Guests should be told about problems like this beforehand. Luckily, we had booked only one night; a longer stay could have ruined our whole vacation. I feel the way this was handled showed little respect for visitors, since the issue could be addressed or managed better.

We stayed in the bungalow at the very end and loved looking out through its big windows at the jungle. There were friendly cats around, and the area felt peaceful, but shops and restaurants were still within walking distance. We skipped breakfast there because we wanted to try the many lovely cafes nearby. There's also a well-known restaurant right outside, with people queuing every evening.

Ismail, our host, kept checking that we were all right and had what we needed. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed feeling surrounded by nature while still being close to everything. Their agency picked us up from and dropped us back at the hotel for each activity. The experiences were all great, including the elephant sanctuary, the professional zip-line crew, the islands and Tiger Cave.

We stayed at Anawin Bungalows in Ao Nang in January 2026, two adults with our two children. There was no housekeeping during the stay, and only towels were left outside. The sheets were stained and torn when we arrived, and our children found sand and hair in their beds. At checkout, I asked about the electricity charge. The owner became verbally aggressive and used offensive language toward my wife in front of the children. We later saw other reviews describing similar problems, so this may not be an isolated case. We have formally raised the matter with Booking.com and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Future travelers may want to read recent reviews carefully before booking.
