Aonang Paradise Resort

We felt cheated by the whole experience and would never recommend this hotel. At check-in they were friendly and showed us a room, but it smelled of sewage. They said the drain was blocked and told us to use the exhaust. With an infant, we refused to stay in those unhygienic conditions. The replacement room was much smaller, but it was already late, so we accepted it. The water pressure was so weak that a bucket would take over an hour to fill, and the shower kept switching suddenly between hot and cold. I was scared to bathe my infant with those temperature changes. Then the drain smell came back, so it seemed to us the blockage affected all the rooms. Pathetic. Check-out was at 12, but no one called or sent a bellboy for our luggage. With all the suitcases, poor water supply and drain issue, we were 30 minutes late. They refused to return our security deposit because of that. It took an hour of talking with reception and then the manager, who wasn’t even there and only spoke by phone, to get it back. It felt like torture for guests. Spend your money on a better hotel.

The resort has a mesmerizing view and is amazing, with a lovely pool as its best attraction. The location is very good, on the main road and about a 10-minute walk from the beach. Breakfast was a nice buffet with plenty of variety, while the room had only basic amenities. The washroom was poor, with bad lighting, very slow water flow and a pathetic shower. The geyser wasn’t great either, and water supply was a big issue. Management should address this. The front office staff weren’t professional or very helpful, and should do more for guests at such a beautiful property.

The outdoor setting is pleasant and breezy, but there wasn’t much else to enjoy. We didn’t believe the reviews at first, then found the rooms dirty, especially the toilets. I bought a brush and bleach because the toilet walls, shower heads and sink faucet were covered in black mold and grime and smelled funky. Even inside the faucet looked moldy, so we were scared to brush our teeth. There were lots of mosquitoes, and the glass door let in a lot of light in the morning. Breakfast was horrible.

Bring your own dental kit, since they hadn’t provided one for us. Otherwise, you’ll need to buy one at the nearby 7Eleven. The location is very good, within walking distance of the beach. The room was comfortable and well maintained, and the property had a pleasant feel. Our only issue was inconsistent hot water, which turned cold after a while and was inconvenient.
