Diamond Cave Resort

The superior bungalow was spacious and very comfortable, with a lovely large balcony, and we had no complaints about it. Staff were attentive, helpful, and friendly throughout. Laundry was incredibly quick: 70baht/kg, ready in just a couple of hours. The setting beside the rocks is beautiful, and getting in from the floating dock was easy. It’s a straightforward walk to the livelier part of Railay West, with PraNang beach close enough to stay past sunset and walk back safely. At the bottom of the hill there’s a great sushi restaurant and bars with really good live music. I don’t understand the lower-rated reviews for this resort. This is Thailand.

Our bungalow had everything we needed: it was modern and clean, with AC and a pleasant terrace facing the garden. The pool was nice and had a small bar, and the staff were super friendly. Breakfast was simple but good. It’s a bit of a walk to everything, which is worth it if you’d rather be away from the crowds. I don’t understand the bad reviews.

Staff were friendly, especially the breakfast team. The man welcoming people to the restaurant was funny and lovely, though I wish he’d had a name tag so I could mention him. Breakfast was basic, enough to fill you up. The pool and bar felt deserted, and there was hardly anyone around. Don’t come for atmosphere. The pool was unusable with hundreds of dead mosquitoes in it, and outside was a mosquito haven day and night. Our first room had an ant infestation, but they moved us straight away. WiFi didn’t work in our villa. The beds were among the worst we had in four weeks in Thailand, and the pillows felt like sacks of rocks. You have to request cleaning. We gave reception our key at 10am, but the room still hadn’t been cleaned by 4pm, a long time to be out of the way. For the price, it isn’t worth it.

Somchai, the restaurant manager, went above and beyond when I arrived with severe gastroenteritis. I could barely speak, and he made tea and special food for me. Chai and all the staff have my heart. ❤️ Their kindness and warmth are what made this place special: they were humble, smiling, helpful, and attentive. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well maintained, with good air conditioning, quality linens, high-speed wifi, and everything working properly. There are restaurants and shops at the resort, and the food was fresh and tasty, with several breakfast choices. The calm, clean setting felt welcoming for adults and children, a lovely place to slow down beneath Railay’s majestic limestone mountains. Diamond Cave Resort is an excellent hotel by Thailand’s standards and a lovely way to experience Railay. Hospitality varies by country, and this isn’t a copy of a five-star resort in Dubai. There’s a genuine, heartfelt quality to it. Sometimes luxury is in simplicity, kindness, and connection.
