Golden Beach Resort

The rooms are comfortable, clean, and have a pleasant ambience, but I wouldn’t recommend the resort if good service matters to you. We’re a family of five with our 9 month old baby boy, staying in one of the jacuzzi villas. We checked in last night and have found the staff inhospitable, with neither politeness nor a smile from anyone we’ve met. We respect the resort’s strict rules around decorum and hygiene, but the staff’s rude demeanour and attitude have been shocking for a place that welcomes guests from around the world. After a day trip, we weren’t sure whether we’d lost our key or left it in the room, so we asked reception to open the room. The receptionist said a lost key would cost 2500 baht. We said we understood and were willing to pay, then she rudely told us to leave the lobby. At breakfast, staff kept reminding us they’d soon be closing, although we needed to head out and had no intention of sitting there longer than necessary. Housekeeping also seem unhappy when asked to do tasks that are part of their responsibilities. There have been many examples of how unaccommodating the staff are. One key is issued per room, and it’s also needed for the electricity. If you’re here with toddlers and help, or need your children to stay in the room while you go out briefly, that can’t work, because everyone needs to leave with the key. There are many places across Krabi, and I’m sure service and hospitality are better elsewhere.

The pool was clean and well looked after, the room was spacious with basic amenities, and the water pressure was good. I stayed five days mainly for the location: right by the beach, peaceful, surrounded by greenery, and child-friendly. It’s a 3-minute walk to the Main Street. The property is a bit old, and breakfast is simple but fine for a short visit. Staff were friendly, though some don’t speak English. They take a 3,000 Baht deposit in cash or by card, refunded at checkout if there are no issues. Check-in time is strict, there’s no lift, and sometimes nobody is available to help with luggage. An average resort, but good if you want a quiet beachside stay.

I forgot an article in my room after checkout, and when I emailed Golden Beach Resort, they quickly confirmed they’d found it and offered to ship it to me. That honesty and helpfulness meant a lot. The staff were friendly and cooperative throughout. The pool was mind-blowing, with a breathtaking view. The in-house restaurant served delicious food, and the dining experience was satisfying. Breakfast was good too, though there’s a little room to improve it. The location is superb for a relaxing, scenic getaway, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. I’d highly recommend Golden Beach Resort for its comfort, beauty, and trustworthy staff.

The pool was good, and the breakfast, though limited, was acceptable. The staff in those areas were polite and helpful, a clear contrast with reception. The location is the resort’s biggest strength: right on Ao Nang Beach, about 500 m from Ao Nang Night Market and roughly 1.9 km from Landmark Night Market. Rooms are spacious with a good view, but the lighting is poor and makes packing or organizing luggage at night a real hassle. Reception seriously needs improvement. There was food left in our mini-fridge from the previous guest. We treated it as an understandable human error, disposed of it ourselves, and politely asked the receptionist to clean the trash bin before we left for a Phi Phi tour. Her reaction made us feel as if we’d asked for something unreasonable, and it was uncomfortable. The reception area consistently had frowning, unwelcoming faces. We also saw another Indian couple having similar issues. Based on our stay and several earlier reviews, the behavior toward Indian guests seemed noticeably different from that toward European guests. It felt discriminatory and left us with a bad impression. The beachfront setting, rooms, and amenities are good, but the reception staff’s poor attitude and lack of professionalism really affected our stay. With respectful guest handling and proper hospitality training, this place could be much better.
