Grand Mercure Krabi Aonang

The pool was a highlight, especially since it uses saltwater rather than chlorine, and the mountain and cliff views are incredible. It's also an easy walk to the beach and shops. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and beautiful, and the whole property felt peaceful and well cared for. Staff were consistently polite and helpful. A special thanks to the three lovely women working in the breakfast restaurant. They were so friendly and made mornings feel welcoming. We had an excellent stay at Grand Mercure and highly recommend it.

The breakfast was good and I liked the pool. The rooms themselves were pretty basic, though, and this didn't feel up to what I expected from a five-star hotel. Construction in the building was noisy. We were moved because our first room was directly underneath the work, which helped, but the construction was still happening in the same building. I understand renovations happen, but I wish we'd been told before booking so we could decide whether that was okay.

The room was spacious and clean, and the breakfast team were warm. The receptionist, bellman, and Chill Kitchen staff were great, especially Mr tun, the bell captain, who was always smiling and helpful. The location is good too, close to ao nang beach without being too busy, near the mosque, and with plenty of halal food options. We were told check-in would take 40 minutes, but didn't get settled until around 4pm. The hallways still looked like work in progress and were quite dusty. On our second day, housekeeping didn't come. We got back late, called twice for fresh towels, and finally had to go to reception to ask them to clean the room. This was the first time we'd run into that at a five-star hotel. We'd just had a phenomenal stay at their sister hotel, Pullman in lombok, so we expected a similar experience here. Since this hotel has only recently opened, I hope they improve.

The breakfast had lots of choices for different tastes, and the staff in the breakfast room were very nice and attentive. Our room was large enough for a longer stay, with a spacious bathroom and a lovely shower. We paid 926€ / 34519THB for five nights, breakfast included, or 185€/night. The hotel seems brand new, but work was still unfinished and some things already weren't working properly. The sink faucet sprayed everywhere. We called reception several times and someone came, but the problem remained. The entrance to building B stayed dirty the whole time. More than once I saw cleaners talking in the corridor instead of cleaning it, and the swimming pool drain was full of stagnant water. Our towels weren't changed during the five days. The foot towel got really dirty after two visits from the plumber to work on the sink. There's no shower at the pool. The one shower is hidden on the ground floor of one of the buildings, so guests bring sand back from the beach into their rooms and bathrooms. These problems could be fixed by paying more attention to details. I haven't commented on the architectural choices, since those can't be fixed.
