The Tama Hotel

The only good thing was a kind local woman nearby who offered laundry service. Otherwise, this was a very disappointing stay. The hotel is far from everything: no beach, restaurants, or fruit stalls within walking distance. The only decent nearby food option seemed to be 7-Eleven. To get to Ao Nang Beach you need a taxi, since tuk-tuks won’t take you. There was no hot water at check-in, just water that was slightly warm at best. Staff spent about 30 minutes trying to fix it, but it still didn’t work properly. The chandeliers hang so low that you keep hitting your head unless you’re very short. There’s little to do apart from lie by the pool chairs in the sun and risk getting burned. Reception has no air conditioning. A nearby café is closed every Wednesday, opens only at 10 a.m., and has no toilet. There’s also a Thai market close by, but it’s dirty and chaotic.

We loved the pool, and the rooms were spacious and stayed clean. Shops and local food are right outside. The hotel ended up being just right for us. In five minutes you can get on a boat to Railay Bay or Ao nang beach. We’d definitely stay again!

The staff made my 10 days at The Tama Hotel a five-star stay. They always felt warm and caring, and when I ran into trouble on departure day, they helped me in the most empathetic way. I’ll never forget it. The room was clean and spacious, and the hotel had a nice look. There isn’t much going on in the area, but the Ao Nammao pier is a strong point. From there, a longtail boat to Railay takes 10 minutes and costs just 100 baht. The hotel was well worth the price.

A very bad property. The location is okay, but the reception was extremely hot and the restaurant was dead. The food and pool were bad, and there was no Wi-Fi. There was no staff around, and we had to carry our own luggage to and from the room. Check-in was very slow, and they’re very strict about checkout. Even being five minutes late means a 500 bhat charge. There was no cutlery either. I accidentally booked three nights, and it felt like a waste of money. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
