Whalecome Aonang Resort

We had a comfortable two-night stay at Whalecome Resort for the price. It’s a basic place, not a luxury stay. Our room had water, tea, coffee, a kettle, and body wash, but no shampoo or conditioner. The beds weren’t especially comfortable, though at this price it wasn’t much to complain about. The rooms were quieter than expected despite the busy surroundings, and I liked the small balcony with greenery in front. The location is a big plus. Ao Nang Beach is close, and the longtail boat pier is very near for island tours. Restaurants are everywhere, and the night market, not the Ao Nang Landmark Nigh Market, is a short walk away. The staff were friendly and helpful, and can arrange tours and ferry transfers. We didn’t use that service because we found cheaper options at small shops around Ao Nang, but it’s convenient to have.

As a solo female traveler, I had a slightly uncomfortable situation with a group of men. I spoke to the hotel manager, he acted right away, and there were no more problems for the rest of my stay. The team are kind and attentive, and you can ask them for activity suggestions, they give good advice. The hotel is on a busy street, perfect for food or a massage, and just a 5-minute walk from the beach. If I come back to Ao Nang, I’d happily stay here again.

Nice small pool and a good location. The rooms are comfortable, though the hot water is hit and miss. Breakfast has to be paid for in cash, they wouldn’t add it to the room bill. Staff seemed pretty miserable and weren’t very helpful with specific requests.

The property itself was good and the beach is very close, but the Ao Nang night market landmark was too far for me. There’s nobody at the hotel or reception from 11PM to 7AM, and no one to help with luggage. I didn’t like staying here.
