Chaisuk Bungalow

The hotel is about 15 minutes by vehicle from the border and five minutes from downtown, so the location isn't bad. It's a quiet place, the room was clean, and the staff were friendly. Most of them just couldn't speak English.

It's a beautiful property just off the main road, and only three kilometers from the Border. The rooms are very clean and large, though they have only the bare minimum. I haven't come across any English-speaking staff, but smiles, nods, and a few hand gestures should get you checked in. Getting to the Border or train station is easy. Step onto the sidewalk and within a minute or two, a tuk-tuk or motorcycle taxi will offer you a ride. If you're traveling on a budget, I highly recommend it.

The gardens are lovely for a walk, and the place is quiet. The room was very clean and the AC worked, though it seemed a bit old. There are decent places to eat nearby, but none at the hotel itself. It's a little far from the centre: an ojek, or moto taxi, costs 40 baht to the border, while a tuktuk is 80 baht.

You get what you pay for: a very basic room with AC, hot water, and Thai TV. There's no refrigerator or hot water jug in the room. Still, the price is right if all you need is somewhere to crash for the night.
