I picked Lamphun as the starting point for the Mae Hong Son loop to avoid dealing with Chiang Mai traffic, and the location worked well. There's a 7-11 a few minutes away, with a hotpot buffet and coin laundry right next door. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and our clean room had everything promised. It’s a charming little hotel and great value. If you're riding your own bike clockwise, I'd recommend starting here. Getting stuck in traffic is about as soul-sucking as it gets.

The owner is an upstanding person and speaks English. The cafe downstairs is very cool, though the elevated location still gets road noise. Rooms are medium-sized, with a bar fridge, one sitting stool, and modern decor, but the lighting could be better. Room access is by an outside staircase, and the TV only has one channel.

We spent two nights here and enjoyed every minute. The host is so kind, the room is comfortable, and breakfast was amazing. The coffee was great too. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had a really good stay. We slept comfortably, and the host was welcoming and hospitable. There's a nice dinner restaurant about 300 metres up the road. We couldn't ask for more.
