Tu really turned our trip around. The place was peaceful and calming, like arriving in paradise, and Tu was so kind and friendly. The food was a 10/10, one of our best meals in Thailand. We loved the cooking class, too. He took us out on adventures and was knowledgeable and fun. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with quiet nights. I only wish we’d stayed longer. We can’t wait to come back!

It was an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime stay, and I won’t forget P’Tu’s warm hospitality. He’s a humble, funny guy who loves life and showing people around. He improvised both meals, including making dinner to our request, and every dish was delicious. Easily among our top three meals in Thailand during this two-week trip. A few things to know: insects, no hot water, no showerhead, just a bowl, and only a fan. The lifestyle here is very authentic and minimal, Thai style.

The owners play music extremely loudly, sometimes from as early as 7am and carrying on past 10pm. It drowns out the wildlife and spoils the peace and quiet people come to this part of the world for. Avoid it if you have young children. Such a shame, because the location is lovely.

Tu was so cheerful and welcoming. We were picked up at Halintara resort, hiked through the jungle looking at all kinds of plants and trees, then floated back to the resort on a bamboo raft. Such a perfect day. I’m glad we found this place, and I’d highly recommend it.

The bamboo rafting was the one decent part of our time at Bamboo Jungle Resort. We went in the afternoon with two nice local guides, walked about an hour upstream through the jungle and forest, then rafted back down. We’d added a night here to our 500rai resort package, but the place was nothing like that experience. It felt more like a basic backpacker guesthouse, maybe around 300 ฿ a night. We had to try three rooms before finding one without a major problem, after dealing with things like no water and broken air conditioning. The rooms were dirty and smelled damp, with jungle insects everywhere. Some bungalows looked like they’d already collapsed from termites and humidity. We were the only guests in the whole place at the time. The electricity tripped overnight and stayed out until the next day, which felt ironic with the famous electrical royal dam nearby. I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.
