Toucan Garden

I only needed a few hours before my flight to shower after a hot day. The room itself was clean, with fresh towels and a freshly made bed, and the floor was clean too, so it was okay for a few hours or a night. The receptionist or owner was very nice and tried to help despite her limited English. But the property looks run down and doesn’t seem clean overall, especially the kitchen or “cafe,” which was really bad. It’s in an industrial area.

The rooms are comfortable, and the woman who runs the place is warm and helpful, even though her English is limited. People nearby were friendly too, and there’s an evening market close by where you can pick up a meal for about a dollar. The catch is the setting: it’s in an industrial area. I didn’t find it noisy or unsafe, but getting beyond the area takes around 30 minutes by car, so you’ll need one. The subway and Skytrain don’t reach here, and a taxi ride can be a long one. Bolt and Grab are options if you download their apps. Bolt takes cash, while Grab requires a card in the app, though its fares are cheaper. Even with the location drawback, I’d recommend it. It’s very affordable, and since tourism hasn’t reached this area much, locals are happy to help.

The welcome was really friendly, and the hotel was spotless. It may be a little far out, but that isn’t the hotel’s fault. I’m honestly puzzled by the low rating. 5/5+!
