A cozy spot to get away from the demands of city life. The coffee is really good, and the new owner was lovely and gave me lots of advice on the best ways to get around ☺️

A great value boutique guesthouse in Thewet, a peaceful, pretty part of Bangkok. Banglamphu’s tourist area is only a 15-minute walk away. The old colonial Thai-style mansion has been lovingly updated, and the rooms are comfortable, with private bathrooms, soft clean linens, soft pillows, and comfortable beds. Rooms are cleaned daily, and complimentary bottled water is replenished. Breakfast is included, with a filling continental spread of eggs, fresh fruit, muesli, juice, and fresh coffee. Gae’s street-facing coffee shop downstairs serves a range of good coffees and teas, with a nice view of passersby. Inside, there’s also a patio with plants and a water feature that adds to the relaxed atmosphere. Gae is a charming hostess who speaks fluent English and knows a lot about Bangkok’s history and the surrounding area. She took us on a free guided walk to local wats, including a Sunday morning breakfast at an atmospheric local market. Her knowledge made the visit even better. Getting around is easy. Thewet river ferry pier is a two-minute walk away, and right opposite is the start of the free boats along the canal, including to Hua Lamphong central railway station. Buses go to Victory Monument, Chinatown, and elsewhere, and there are taxis, tuk tuks, and moto taxis at the pier. The neighborhood is charming and quiet, with a lovely flower market along the canal opposite the guesthouse, plus other markets, restaurants, and street food just steps away. Superb value, highly recommended.

The room was spacious and had air conditioning, and there’s a nice coffee place downstairs. It’s in a quiet spot near the pier and market, but the bathroom smelled like a sewer.

A lovely cafe with a delicious scone. Nice place to unwind after taking a tour on the Krung Kasem canal.

It was on and off closed during the COVID outbreak, then seemed to shut down for good. It looks like it’s been closed for about two years now.
