The staff were wonderful, and the room was a good deal at 600 THB for two beds. It had a TV and refrigerator, too. This is a very quiet base for exploring the old palaces on a budget. Without a car, it's great for getting around on foot, by bus, or by boat. The parking situation is another story: Booking said parking was available without reservation, but even though I arrived late at night, the guest parking area wasn't a proper lot and was reserved for crews working in other government buildings. You may be lucky, but if you're traveling for business and want something more proper, there are other nearby hotels that cost a bit more.

We booked a room with three single beds and stayed just one night. It was clean, including the bathroom, though the place felt a little creepy to me. The hostel is inside the ministry building and can be hard to find. Still, it's a good price for backpackers.

I just needed somewhere to sleep near my school, so the large room was fine for me. At 500-600 baht a night, it's an old place in a government department area, much like accommodation from 30 years ago. The old city is nearby by bus or taxi.
