Danee Hostel

The location was great and the room stayed quiet, with a good price too. I had a private room and ensuite bathroom that felt really charming. It was clean, and even had a balcony. Towels, toilet paper and good sheets were all provided. Breakfast was basic but enough, and filtered water, instant coffee and tea were free.

The host was really nice and let us check in early in the morning. I had room 4, with a bathroom, plenty of space and a balcony. The air con worked well. The mattress was hard, like they usually are in Thailand, but I actually like it that way. The kitchenette was a favorite: anyone could make toast with jam and coffee for free, or store food in the fridge.

The owner upgraded my room at no charge, and I stayed four nights in a room with its own bathroom and toilet. Surasak BTS station is nearby, as are street food stalls and a 7 eleven. Getting to the rooms means walking around to the back of the hostel rather than using the street entrance. My room had a TV, but I couldn't get any channels because of what seemed like a connection problem. The sink drained very slowly, and the owner couldn't do much about it. The air con was a little noisy.

The area is quiet and well located, close to SuraSak BTS, and there are cheaper hotels or hostels nearby. The room itself was very cozy, but the furniture was old and didn't work properly. I only found it okay for one night if you have no other choice. I booked a standard triple room on agoda, which listed a shower, TV, free WiFi and breakfast. Instead, the bathroom was shared, and the TV seemed to be just for show. There isn't a reception in the main building, so to raise anything you have to leave and walk a little way in front.
